Counselling
To help people heal themselves has always been the forefront during my entire life.
I have always been a very warm and compassionate person ever willing to listen attentively and give my time freely whenever I could to whoever I felt was in need.
I have now had the opportunity to fulfill my lifetime dream of becoming a fully qualified Counsellor and Reiki Master.
My first session is normally 1 1/2 hours where I tell the client exactly what I do and find out how I can help them. Subsequent sessions are approximately for 1 hour.
So what exactly is counselling?
We are all counsellors to a degree, when perhaps someone rings or chats about a particular problem they are facing and we listen attentively to what they are saying, with empathy, confidentially and understanding.
So why do people come for counselling?
I know that people come for counselling for a variety of reasons i.e. marital problems, bereavement, debt or illness.
Sometimes however, they really do not know why they feel so low. They only know that their lives are in turmoil, have become difficult or even unbearable.
They feel in a rut with 'no light at the end of the tunnel'!
They may then listen to well-meaning family members or friends who offer solutions and therefore make decisions they could regret later.
So when all else fails they may then turn to a well-trained outsider, who will listen attentively enabling them to make their own decisions and be in charge of their own lives.
My role as a counsellor is to agree explicitly to give my time, attention and respect to another person(s) who will temporarily be the client with complete confidentiality.
Whatever the problem - no judgment will be made.
Reiki
The word Reiki is made up of 2 Japanese words 'Rei' meaning 'God's wisdom or the Higher Power' and 'Ki' which means 'Life force energy'. So to sum up Reiki is actually a 'spiritually guided life force energy'.
It is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also helps promote healing.
Dr Usui was the founder of the Usui Reiki system of natural healing and is the method I practice.
So how does it work?
It is administered by 'laying on hands' and is based on the idea that an unseen 'life force energy' flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. In other words, if one's 'life force energy' is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, however, if it is high, then we are more capable of being happy and staying healthy.
'Life force' flows within the physical body through pathways known as Chakras or Meridians and are stimulated during a Reiki treatment.
So Reiki treats the whole person including the body, emotions, mind and spirit.
Many people have reported that a treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through around you, making you feel relaxed, peaceful with security and well-being.
Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement for everyone.
It complements and works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to help relieve side effects to help promote recovery.
Whilst Reiki is spiritual in nature it is NOT a religion. It has no dogma and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn or use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work even if you do not believe in it or not.
However, whilst Reiki is not a religion, it is still important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony and peace with others (hence the name of my company!).
To sum up:
Reiki can help:
Balance energy
Increase awareness and intuition
Heal the whole person
Amplify energy you have
Works on the casual level of disease
Release stress
Helps to release stores negative emotions Increase creativity
It is important however to remember that the Reiki practitioner is not responsible for generating this healing energy - it is channelled from a higher force through the practitioner.
The Reiki Ideals are:
Just for today do not worry
Just for today do no anger
Honour your parents, teachers and elders Earn your living honestly Show gratitude for everything
I find that combining a counselling session with Reiki is definitely the 'magic formula' and people seem far more relaxed and more at peace at the end of the session.
